Privacy Policy — Bible Buddy
Effective date: July 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Bible Buddy mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information. Bible Buddy is an independent app and is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, any Bible publisher or Google. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
Summary
- You can use the App as a guest or sign in with Google. Signing in is optional.
- Your in-app content (favorites, reading progress, fasting logs and reflections, sermon notes) is stored on your device and backed up to your private cloud space (Google Firebase / Cloud Firestore) linked to your account, so you can restore it on a new phone.
- The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how the App is used, and Google AdMob to show ads. These Google services collect certain device data described below.
- You can delete your account and all cloud data at any time from the Profile screen in the App.
Accounts and sign-in
- Guest mode: an anonymous account (a random user ID) is created so the App can keep your backup. No name, email, or profile information is collected.
- Google sign-in (optional): if you sign in with Google we receive your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account. These are used only to identify your account and label your backup profile.
Cloud backup (Google Cloud Firestore)
To let you restore your content on a new device, the App automatically backs up the following to your private space in Google Cloud Firestore:
- Favorite verses.
- Bible reading-plan progress.
- Fasting plans, history, and reflections you write.
- Sermons and sermon notes.
- Prophecy content you save.
This data is tied to your account (guest or Google) and is not visible to other users. We do not sell it or use it for advertising. It is retained until you delete your account.
Analytics (Google Firebase Analytics)
The App uses Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage information — such as screens viewed, general app interactions, device model, OS version, and an app-instance identifier — to help us understand which features are used and to improve the App.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App uses Google AdMob to display ads (a banner and an occasional full-screen ad). To serve and measure ads, Google and its partners may collect and process information such as:
- a device advertising identifier,
- device and app information (model, OS version, app version),
- IP address (approximate, coarse location may be inferred),
- ad interaction and performance data.
This processing is carried out by Google as described in its policies: the Google Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Consent (EEA / UK): where required, the App presents a Google-certified consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) before personalized ads are served, and you can change your choice later from the in-app "Ad privacy" option.
Information stored only on your device
- Scripture alarms you create (time, verse reference, settings).
- App settings (theme, reading font, selected Bible version, etc.).
These stay on your device and are removed when you clear the App's data or uninstall it.
Device permissions the App uses
- Notifications / exact alarms — to deliver the scripture alarms you set. These fire locally on your device.
- Do Not Disturb access (optional) — to enable a focus mode during a fast. You grant this manually and can revoke it anytime.
- File access (audio picker) — if you choose to add a background song from your device, the App reads only the file you select, to play it. The file is not uploaded.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your backup content with third parties.
- We do not knowingly collect data from children. The App is not directed to children under 13.
Data retention and deletion
- In-app deletion: open Profile → "Delete account". This permanently deletes your cloud backup and your account. See also our account deletion page.
- On-device data is removed when you clear the App's data or uninstall it.
- Advertising data collected by Google is governed by Google's policies linked above; you can reset your advertising ID in device settings.
Data security
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in Google Firebase services protected by per-user security rules.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective date" above and posting the new version at the same URL.
